Flower Cart - Or Why you should listen closely to your wife.

My wife wanted a wagon to pull gardening tools and supplies around the yard. I looked for ideas, found a plan online, and knew that she would love it, so started building. Well, she did not. We bought a plastic wagon at Lowe’s. Now I have to figure out what to do with this solid oak Flower cart living on my front porch.

The wood is Red Oak and the finish is Flood Clear Oil based deck and wall sealer.

The website is Runner duck and the cart is nice but a little large. I saw it and wanted to make one. I have to learn to exercise a little woodworking self-control.

When I first saw this I thought it was almost too pretty to use. I really like it even thou mama didn’t. Great job! You could put potted plants in it and roll it out on nice days. Thanks for posting.

God Bless

Sorry she didn’t like it. I think it would work great. I bet a lot of gardeners would love to have it.

Excellent piece, Roz! Who can explain what women want anyway? :-)

I think it would look great if you leave it on the porch and sit a few potted plants on it.

You know if Mama really does not like it and you want it to have a good home . . .

It is gorgeous and you did a superb job on it! Thanks for posting it, I have actually been looking at building one very similar for my back patio and gardens.

I like it. However, if it’s primary function is no longer to be mobile, I would replace the metal wheels with wooden ones to match the piece better.

Too bad it wasn’t what your wife was after…..but THIS woman would sure love to have one! You know….there are alot of ways you can USE this besides what it was intended for. Like…..I don’t know if you ever have outdoor gatherings ot bbq’s, but it would be great as a little drink station (with a cooler full od ice down below, and bottles and cups on top), or as an extra rolling cart to put food platters and bowls on!

It would make great landscape art, just replace the tires with wooden ones. I can easily see it in my garden with vines draping down from flower pots on it’s top shelf.

Well thank you to all of you for your input. Kolwdwrksgirl, you are barking up my tree. I have been sizing it up as an outdoor bar for garden parties….if we ever have one. We are starting to pave a brick patio and we were looking at it for a serving station or bar.

You did a nice job on the cart … it looks terrific.

I second the bar/serving cart idea. Looks great. I bet that the first party you have and you pull this thing out full of drings someone is going to say, “WOW that would make a great flower cart!”

Nice cart Terry. While you were at Lowes did you find a new tool?

This kind of thing can happen pretty easy. Just send it me and I will find a worthy use for it, lol. It always pays to dig a little deeper when information is received from the wife. My wife thinks I should be able to read her mind just because she can read mine. The cart looks great and many would like to have it. Maybe you can raffle it off.
