Another file handle, this one a full inch in diameter. Bought some 1” ID brass tubing to go with my 1” diameter broom-stick. Hacksawed off a piece, bashed it around some with the 3# hand-maul, and then shined it up with the wire wheel on the bench grinder afterwards. Functional and prettier than my first couple attempts that used aluminum tubing.

I have also used broom handles for many projects. Good job! and Cost effective also!

I forget exactly what the handle was from, but it started as about a three foot long chunk that was broken off something or other. I’ve been hacking a few inches off it every time I need something round about an inch in diameter for over a decade, and there’s still almost two feel left.

At the rate my wife burns through a corn broom I imagine my supply will never be low.. Good idea though, they come in handy for the odd jobs. Beats having to turn a piece everytime..

I also have a tap and die for 1”x8 threads, so 1” handles can also become part of a vise or other threaded things, too. A well seasoned handle is too useful to throw out.
