I decided I needed to make a case for the mountain dulcimer I made for the wife. This is made from Eastern Red Cedar. I made a box mitered corners with dovetail spines then cut the top off. The fun began when cutting the foam and covering it. I definitely need to work on my sewing skills. Everything fits the dulcimer is a little tight will cut the foam on the other side of the line next time. Laminated some maple and cedar for the handle. Finished with lacquer.

Very nice. This post has inspired me to get back looking at a build I started on paper a couple years ago – a case for an antique bowl-back mandolin.

This is a beautiful dulcimer case and is so beautifully done. It shows a lot of nice craftsmanship.
