Sounds like the start of a joke… but sorry I couldn’t think of a punch line.

None of these are really worthy of a project on their own, but I just love making simple things between (or even in the middle of) bigger projects.

Backstory on the wood.

- The spalted maple bowl came out of a chunk of tree from my parent’s yard. I saw the spalting early but those grey tones in the wood didn’t really come out until I put the oil on it. I don’t plan to use it for food. (anyone know a good way to ensure the mold is dead? I hit it pretty good with denatured alcohol)

The spoon and spatula came from some some painted furniture boards that were laying under our bed for about 8 years. I planed off the paint and found a wide variety of hardwoods spliced and laminated together. no clue what they are but a wide variety of colors. (most not pictured) but the furniture was made in Indonesia so maybe something indigenous to there.

The bowl is really spalted, nice character! I don’t know about the mold, never worried about it in the bowls I have.

As long as the wood is dry the fungus will stay inactive. You can use it safely. Nice looking work.

”A bowl, a spoon, and a spatula came out of a garage…..”

The Bowl says I’m better than a spoon or spatula because I can hold more.
The Spoon says I’m better because I can stir and be used to eat food with.
The Spatula turns to both of them and says..?
.
.
.
Oh hell I got nothing :>/

Love the spalted maple, nice work!
