Project Information

A cherry mirror for a gift for my mother-in-law's birtday. I used pocket holes on the back, curved the outside edges, and chamfered them.

I really like the design, as was the recipient, and I was totally pleased with the finish; Which is the rockler wipe on poly gel . It is the easiest stuff I have ever used and produced a beautiful smooth finish. Even in the Florida heat I was able to wipe it on and wipe it off without it setting up too quickly. I highly recommend checking it out.

Cherry is a really beautiful species. I am a big fan of it.

one note: Always keep some protection on the back of the mirror when handling/transporting it. No matter how unlikely it is to rub something. There is a tiny spot on this where the silvering was rubbed of during transport, and I can't tell you how maddening it is to have that happen after ordering a custom sized mirror…
