I have made this insect hotel. It was a great way to use some scrapwood. It is modeled after some typical dutch houses which were built here a lot about 40-50 years ago.
I have also made a video about the built. I can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtOFSwILG18. For the people who want to build something like this and like to have plans I have included a download in both metric and imperial in the description.
It is not hard to build but I think it was a lot of fun and the insects will be gratefull.

Best regards,
Gerry

Very interesting. What type of insects did you build this for?

It is made for different insects. I have made a large variation of hole sizes and gaps. I don’t know all the names in English. But it is for butterflies, ladybugs, bees and wasps (the solitary ones) etc.

Neat house. Can I send you some box elder bugs and mesquite worms when I get them?

Cheers, Jim

We’re all trying to get rid of insects in wood and here you are building homes for them. You’re like the Jimmy Carter for insects.
Looks great!

I like how you keep them healthy by providing them with a bicycle to ride around the complex.

I would love to give them a big pick up truck but because of the climate convention of Paris they wil not be able to afford the fuel here in the Netherlands.

Great for the many varieties of solitary bees and wasps; which are pollinators. Looks fun.
