I made this a while back, but it might be useful as an idea for someone. I needed a compass to draw out the wheels for my homemade bandsaw and created this. It was a very quick project made from scraps and I’ve used it a lot since making it :)

It’s made by gluing a small 6mm piece in-between each end of two 50cm pieces and uses a 6mm furniture bolt that is ground to a point as the pivot pin. A slot and 7mm hole at the end holds a pencil. I drilled a 6mm hole in the other end for storing the pin when not in use.

This is a nice practical shop-made tool.

There is a special place in Woodworking Heaven for the people that make their own shop tools.

A carpet of sawdust, something to play music, a stove with a kettle and a place to sit and think :)
