I recently built some Olivewood Pistol Grips for a friend’s .22 Ruger. I made the checkering using a scalpel with a vertical half-inch blade. After finishing with an oil and shellac, you get a beautiful, fully-functional pistol accessory!

Those are nice. I like making pistol grips as well. I prefer a satin or matte finish over gloss, but shiny doesn’t take away from these.
