I live in the historic market town of Beverley in East Yorkshire and we have a beautiful 1000 + year old Minster but as with all public buildings including churches there are health and safety requirements like emergency resuscitation equipment. Now in a building this old you can’t just go screwing anything to the walls without a faculty (Church of England permission) So here’s what I came up with. It’s made of some English quarter sawn Oak I rescued from a Church in Liverpool about 200 years old so fits in with it’s surroundings, although compared to the building it’s brand new. The place is full of wonderful carved screens and pews so I do feel honoured that my offering was accepted even though it’s only in the Vestry. The back is set in to allow hanging on a french cleat.

Well, that sure beats the metal box we have them in where I work. Excellent work, Trevor!

I think the “faculty” needs to get something made in China from molded plastic of an obnoxious safety yellow color.

What an honor Trevor. The wood is stunning and the joinery excellent. Great job.

English oak, French cleat and Trevors touch, what more could one ask for.
Beautiful dovetails, really elegant.
They are more than lucky.
