My apprentice built this bench for himself to put at the foot of his bed. He wanted wanted something different and I feel he accomplished that. The top is Big Leaf Maple with Maple and Jatoba stripes. The Frame is all Black Walnut with a strip of Maple in the Legs. The risers for the top are Teak as well as the tusks in the through tenons. The only part of this that is glued is the risers to the top. This was his first attempt at the through tenons and I think he did a pretty good job. What are your thoughts.

Thanks Pottz!! Yeah he’s pretty darn good at what he does. Good enough in fact I am going to turn the biz over to him soon. It’s about time for me to step back and let the young pup take the helm.

I like that the tusk and inlay are the same width on the leg. It’s a thoughtful detail that elevates the piece’s quality to me.
