One of the great things about working at a Marine Base is that people rotate through a lot and I am constantly meeting new people and making friends with fellow woodworkers or people who want to learn to do woodworking. I even get to teach a woodworking class as part of an enrichment program we have. This guy isn’t even from my schoolhouse but a friend referred him to me because he and his wife were looking for a table and just didn’t feel like spending $6,000 on a table. He had done a little woodworking before but nothing close to this scale. He downloaded some excellent plans from the RogueEngineer.com site and we made some modifications (the leafs for example) and we had a great time. Putting the final finish on it is going to have to wait until he gets back from his next billet in Okinawa but you can see both projects turned out great and he and his wife couldn’t be happier. It makes me happy to help people learn about this awesome hobby.

Great story about friendship’s Todd. It’s a good feeling when you share your woodworking knowledge and build a project together with someone wanting to learn and also make a new friend at the same time. Nice work on your table!
