This was actually my first attempt at a carved rocking chair. I did it out of Beetle Kill Pine because of stock on hand. Oddly it’s been the most popular for me. So I am posting this to point out many things that I need to improve as I am starting 3 more of them.

Thanks for reading and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

WOW Monte,

You’re batting a thousand! 3 more? Spec pieces or are they customer orders?

I have made 2 since this one that I felt were improved over this one.

The next ones are orders.

Great rocking chair. I hope you tested it out yourself. Nice contoured back.

I see a nice Rocker there Monte, but no construction information, so its a bit hard to comment on and improvements needed as it looks A OK to me.

So in saying that if you consider it a prototype and then improve on the next 3 so be it, but from what I see it would only be refinments from No 1.

Sculpting chairs is a very rewarding activity as it allows the creator open licence to do it the way they want, use the tools they want and create a unique item at the finish. It certainly has a definate Sam Maloof look about it!

Very nice Monte! It was an instant like for me when I laid my eyes on your rocker! Don’t see a thing I would change. The way the back curves makes me think that it’s very comfortable to sit in and take a long nap! Love the good looking BKP also! Great work!

Nice rocker Monte… The only thing I would change is add rungs or braces between the legs….
