Tiger Wood Cigar Pen

Here is a wooden pen I recently turned on my lathe. I found the Tiger Wood blank at one of my pen turning supply stores in Atlanta. I believe that this is just quarter sawn oak. But it makes a very stunning pen. I was very pleased how this turned out. I used the ultra cigar pen kit with gold/chrome plating.

I know a lot of pen turners like the CA finish, but I think I prefer the friction polish finishes. I used a brand that goes by the name of Pens Plus. It does a great job and holds the shine for a long time.

I’ve also noticed with the last few ultra pen kits I’ve used, that the center band doesn’t exactly match up flush with that upper pen barrel. Not sure if this is a design change or what. I double checked to make sure I was using the right bushings and hardware.

Check out my video tutorial on how I made this pen. Please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel.
