This is the first bandsaw box that I made completely of my own design (instead of Lois Ventura’s). I wanted to make something special for my daughter for her graduation from college at the U. of S. Carolina. I had this idea and was able to make it work. The drawers are very small, but could be used for business cards, paper clips etc. Some of the angle were very tight and difficult to cut out, like the inside of the drawer for the “U”, but I was very pleased that it all came out well. I painted the fronts of the letters Garnet red (school color) an the rest is clear lacquer, sprayed on. Lots of tiny nooks and crannies to sand on this one. You wouldn’t make any money mass producing these, but it was a labor of love! Black flocking from Donjer in the drawers- they have lots of colors, but garnet isn’t one of them!
I included a picture with a tape measure for scale. Made of 1×6 red oak with a wenge stripe in the middle.

I agree with stefang-Love it. Totally original and well designed and executed.
I was really interested in making those bandsaw boxes until I saw just how many people were making. It took the originality out of it all for me.
But this brings it all back again to be interesting. Good idea, Hope your daughter likes it.

This made me chuckle and applaud at the same time. I wonder what she will store in the “U”?
