Here is a bunch of bird houses my Grandson and I made .
We used spruce for the first one (middle in pic 6 ) as I had a diamond pattern board in the off cut bin and it looked great for the roof and went from thereto make several more out of red pine which we both liked better because of the colour .we used Tite Bond 3 glue and 23ga brads to assemble them so they should stand up for some years
One of them we gave to a couple that are visiting from the UK as a gift and another is a birthday present for my daughter and the rest will find a home I am sure .
Here is the link to the jig I made to cut the diamond pattern which I use on boxes but it also works well for this to give the roof a interesting shingle look and takes no time it all .

That’s a nice added touch with the diamond roof Klaus, it makes for a great looking birdhouse. I think you are teaching your grandson all the tricks. It all adds to more fun in the shop. Did you use any finish or keeping it natural?
