Since I released my video on how to use locally felled trees for turning, I have been unable to pull myself away from the lathe. Feeling that I had reached a new level of tool control, I decide to give one of those really thin-walled goblets a try. So out to the wood pile I went to find a piece of “scrap” branch wood for some practice.

Scrap, not!

This is one of the greatest joys in using locally felled trees: You never know when you will strike gold in an undesirable hunk of “scrap” wood.

Wow, that’s a gorgeous piece of wood not to mention a really nice turning. It’s even better that you were able to find this in a “scrap” piece of wood. Thanks for sharing!

Agree completely & nice work. My favorite pieces are ones that have a story behind the wood itself.
