My first Coffee table is based, or at least inspired, again by a Sam Maloof sketch I saw in a book about his work. I believe the sketch was for a round dinning table but I thought it would be a neat oval coffee table. The base reminds me of a Sci-fi, or Star Wars, space ship landing gear. It looks fairly fragile but is surprisingly strong, I would have to stand on the end and maybe even jump to break it. The top is book matched.
