Trying to reduce my pile of found wood I cam across yet another chunk of plum wood. Got the pattern cut leaving a live edge the enclosed boot is the result.
It was a @##5* # of a carving to work with. But I wasn’t going to give in.
It has a nice colour, nice grain and the live edge is powerful.
Enjoy! Another boot from the same wood will follow in the next post.

Do you have customers for these or what’s the deal? Such an unusual pursuit.

A thing I’ve wondered many times. You’re either giving these away, selling them, or, Mrs. Roman’s swimming in them. “I knew a woman who had so many shoes she had nowhere to step.”

I carve these for several reasons.
1 Keeps my creative juices going!
2 Want to spread a new technique on carving wooden boots!
3 Introduce woodworkers to my book and tease them to crawl out of the box!
4 Put some life into my retirement years!
5 Have presents to give away to nice people!
6 Sell boots to those interested in wood art!
For those interested these one-of-a-kind boots sell at $150.00 and up!
7 I teach boot carving a Lee Valley stores and need preparation work for class demos!
8 I hate seeing “F” wood going to the landfills and burn piles. Make them into ‘BOOTS’!

Another nice piece of wood has become another beautiful boot. It’s outstanding work, Roman.
