Wood and leather together

I make and sell small keepsake boxes. For a change of pace, I tooled some leather and inserted it into some box lids. These boxes are 6”x 6”x 3” and 6” x 8” x 3”. The bottom and the wood just under the leather is eastern red cedar and the sides of the boxes are stained Ash. I apply wipe on poly over the whole thing, including the stained leather. Making the box is simple and straightforward but I am a novice at tooling leather.

I wish I could do that kind of leather work !
I can make a box no problem and this would be a nice touch to add to a box .
Love the leather work you did !

Nice combination Jim. Good that you have a local Tandy. Their supply of Al Stohlman books is also a great resource for both instruction and design ideas. Sorry I’m a bit too far away to lend you any of my leatherwork books. ;)
