I finally made a bookcase. The case is done using birch plywood. I attached a face frame using some kind of maple (it had little holes in it and was pretty cheap). The backing is 3/16 alder strips and reinforced by 1/8 hardboard. It’s pretty heavy and I wish I’d have just made the backing boards thick enough.

I used Minwax ‘Golden Pecan’ for the stain, and it came out pretty decent. The trim on the inside was kind of sloppy though, and I realize I need a better brad nailer.

I think your choice of stain looks very attractive.
