This band saw box was a Mothers Day gift for my mom. The sandwich is mahogany front and back, then maple, cherry and red oak in the center. The Blue flocking (her favorite color) in the drawers is from Donjer, and the outside has got about 8 coats of spray on lacquer, buffed with 0000 steel wool between coats. No stain, just the natural wood. The lacquer really brings out the color an luster of the wood. The spindle sander is invaluable for this project! Thanks again to fellow lumber jock” Huff, for the Mahogany board, which I’ve made good use of, for several boxes, and for his input and advice on several projects.
Made another box just like this with 2 drawers for my mother in law too, from the same sandwich. Both designs are from Lois Ventura’s book on bandsaw boxes. This was my 3rd one. Kinda getting the hang of it now.
