This is a stopper I made for my sister and family. They moved to Texas so I thought I would add a Texas state quarter to the top. The wood is mesquite and the finish is shellac. I finish with a polish. Then I turned up the lathe to 3000 rpm and ran a cloth in the grooves until it started to smoke.

Very nice – I like the idea of using the state coin. I think I’ll steal that idea

I can’t take credit for the coin idea, I saw it somewhere and borrowed it.

Wherever it came from, I like the state quarter idea! Cool!
