Egg Box make of maple and walnut, egg made from maple, both lacquer finished. This was one of our clubs president’s challenge that I won. The challenge was to turn some thing that would hold an egg so I decide to think inside the box for a change.

It’s really elegant, perhaps even like a little farytale.
Congratulations.

Absolutely wonderful. It’s very appealing. Would you object if I tried one?

No Kate please go for it, I feel if someone gets inspired from one of my turnings and they want do one their own is the biggest compliment a wood turner could ever have. Thanks for asking.

Classy box, did you turn the egg or the box first?

Knifel-Actually I made a template from a real egg, went through a dozen before I found the shape I wanted. I turned the egg first to match my template. Then I turned the box so when hollowed and fitted the box walls are 1/8” thick and the inside I matched the shape of my egg. Then, last things I turned were the pedestal and finial. hope I didn’t make it to confusing
