This is the table that my wife (LOML) does not appreciate as much as I do. Bless her, Shes had to live with it for 5 years now. We have a small eat in kitchen and a large breakfast table is out of the question. It matches the project I showed last week (pot rack) that is mounted above this table. It is mounted stationary, in place to the window casing and has a knee brace for support. It also has a hidden drawer we use for cutlery.
Note the notch in the rear of the drawer, cut to allow for the knee brace. I used full extension pencil glides on the drawer for smooth operation and to achieve a 1-1/2” shallow depth drawer. I plan to make a table top fill in, that will match in with the rest of the top, and will set in the drawer over the contents to add more table space, when needed.
This set up is very strong and sturdy.
Material is red oak, finished natural, using Helmsman gloss polyurethane.
God bless
P.S. It matches the rest of the kitchen cabinets that I built 9 years ago. (I will post at a later date.)

I believe that the placement of the items in the drawer are fake. I’ve never seen a drawer in my kitchen that is not full to overflowing.
But nice table though.
A great job.

Really nice table and the finish is beautiful. What keeps the drawer from falling out when the table is folded for storage – I think that you said that it drops down once the knee brace is moved.

Well, I would say that there must be something wrong with your wife’s taste if she doesn’t love this… but she married you, so I’d better not say that. :-)
