Project Information

I have come across a challenge from a lady in work that I have to turn a branch of tree god knows where she pick it up into something that is appealing and interesting.

So, I pinched my daughter's nail polish and after an hour of search in Google for different nail beauty tips. I found this one that trying create a opal effect and one trying to fake the gem stone.

I applied theses paints and glitter and here are the final outcome.

Simple and easy, you should give it a try or maybe asking Mrs. or girls to help.

Brilliant! I love this idea, definitely going into my favorites.
How did you make the disks in the last picture? Did you just saw the wood into disks then paint them? It almost looks like you mixed the nail polish with sawdust.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi,
The last picture is just some wooden disk I cut from the branch and give it a light sanding. Then I applied different colors and glitters to see what effect looks nice.
So, there's gold background with color glitters and purple metallic paints with color glitters.
I would like to give the marble effect a try sometimes.
As long as I can convince my daughter to let me play around with her collection, you know teenage girls.

As I recall from growing up with an older sister, there were LOTS of partial bottles of nail polish cluttering the bathroom counter (it looked different in the store, it didn't match the lipstick, there isn't enough left to do fingers AND toes, it clashed with the dress, and of course the all time favorite excuse - that color is out of style.) Maybe you could offer to trade 1 new bottle of her choice for three partial bottles. LOL Good luck.

Neat project!

Dollar Tree has polish for $1 each. I use it for cribbage pegs. Not a huge selection, but, they also have glitter glue in wierd little tubes and you can happily mix a combination to be at least semi-lethal!

These are so cool! I might even risk small grabby hands to wear these!
