We are back home after spending several months in a warmer climate. I was anxious to get into my shop again. I did several small remodel jobs during our winter sojourn, One was adding a bedroom for a good friend. As part of the renovation we removed some storage cabinets. He had gotten some countertop from IKEA several years ago when he’d put in the cabinets. Well the countertop was solid red oak and one of the pieces became the top of my wifes new desk. I cleaned it up with my new (to me) drum sander and it came out great. The rest of the wood is from oak that we cut on our property. The desk is 73×25. The finish is min wax provincal 5 coats of wipe on poly then a couple coats of wax.

Looks fantastic,

Love the sourcing of the materials, too. Just adds to the project !
