I am designing and renovating our old park in our small town. One of the upgrade projects is to replace the worn out welcome sign with a new one. I donate my labor on these projects, and a local non-profit picks up my material expenses.

I designed the new sign in Sketchup. I used a pressure-treated 2×4 frame, with 1/2” exterior plywood. I made quarter-round to secure the sign from pressure-treated wood.

A local printing firm has a 52” wide printer he uses primarily for printing decals to decorate 18-wheelers…......but it also makes good signs. I provide the art work, and they print up my signs.

Both the old and new signs are pretty heavy, so I rigged up a 2-rope method for both lowering the old sign and raising the new sign, which worked pretty slick.

You can see my Trials & Tribulations on this project at my woodworking web site.
