my wife found a decorative shelf unit in a catalog that she was a big fan of, but just like most catalog items the cost to build it was much less than what they would charge for it. Besides, we needed it to be just the right size for the wall we were putting it on. So thus began the effort to scale out the catalog item for our own wall. The finished product is a pine shelving unit with black paint (I know, traditionally I don’t like painting wood furniture). The shelves are joined by overlapping grooves between the horizontal and vertical boards. The unit is anchored to the wall via “key hole” hangers and screws. So far it hasn’t fallen off the wall—- “knock on wood”—-

-- even a mosquito doesn't get a slap on the back until he starts to work...

I like the design. Its almost a piece of art itself. What ever you put on it sure will stand out now. Great job.
