Here is the chair I built this spring at the base wood shop in Columbus MS. Combine boredom with a good wood shop = this. A learning process for sure, but it was my first piece of furniture (or anything bigger than a simple box) not to mention first experience with mortise and tenon. PS I did make all tenons square and not rounded. I did ‘cheat’ and use a mortising machine but oh well not every one has strong character…
It is mahogony from my parents house in Burns OR. It is recycled door and closet casing. There was enough to do this entire chair, a couple boxes, night stand, key rack plus leftovers. It has been amazing to work with but wish I had more.
The chair is all mortise and tenon from the Mission Sofa pattern cut down to equal size so it is 32×32. Custom leather upholstery (it ran me $300) Finish it tung oil, after finishing nightstand I wished I would have used shellac. WAY less time and better finish.
Hope you enjoy it. I sure do.

Very nice, I want a living room set in this style but just don’t have the time.

Welcome aboard. A really nice chair and nightstand, even better that it all came from recycled wood.

I plan on making one of these, but other things keep coming to the front of the list. Very nice work.
