I built this out of 4/4 & 6/4 Northern Wisconsin Black Cherry that was sawn on my sawmill. The skirt boards and trim are made from Northern White pine, stained Cherry, to match with the post & beams in my home. All railing components (45 Lin. Ft), risers, and treads were done in the shop. Treads have 3 coats and the rest 2 coats water borne satin finish. The treads and nailed with 16d black ozide, square cut, formed nails.

Hey DaddyT, Here is a link to where I got the nails. I used # N15, the largest offered. Thanks everyone for the great feedback!

Terrific job on the stairs, I like that the window trim and stairs match color so well. You have your own sawmill ? how awsome. You had good lumber to work with also, that really helps. Keep up the good work.
