I made this small ring box as a Mother’s Day gift for my wife to house birthstone rings of our two children. It’s made out of purpleheart and maple scraps that I had laying around the garage and finished with spray on shellac. I used offset rare earth magnets as the hinge and stop. It measures about 2.5 in square. I put a felt pad in the bottom to finish it off. It only took about an hour of work to finish. I used DrAllred’s grease box as the inspiration for this.

Nice little ring box! The magnet hing is a cool idea! Nice work!

Nice work. I’m sure your wife was giddy happy with her gift. I used to live in Ft.Collins back in the seventy’s and fly fished the heck out of the Poudre River. Have a great time with your projects they look great!

That lid arrangement is neat!

I have a stash of PH that I can’t quite figure out what to do with, your box looks like a fine “solution”.

The ring box looks very nice. How the heck did you get the felt in the bottom?

Thanks for the comments. Fishing season is here. I cut a circle out of foam board and then covered it with a cutout from a sheet of felt. You can get both at any Michaels.
