Router Table

My Incra (woodpeckers) router table top kept sagging over time because of the weight of my router and lift (PRL) Its an awesome table, but this sagging has been bugging me for some time, I want it to remain truly flat, so I have come up with a solution… use a torsion box and a router cabinet for added support. Here is my design so far.

The tablesaw in the sketchup is an inch taller than mine in real life, so the table looks short because it is. Also I’m going to be putting adjustable feet on it, so it will be a bit shorter than my table saw so I have some room for adjustment.

Without the drawer fronts and the door you can see the construction… I plan to use 3/4 ply for the majority of the project. The two right side top drawers are not structural, they slide in and out using a 1/4 inch dado. They will hold bits (though I can’t see me ever having enough bits to fill them both)

The top will remain flat because I will use 3/4 MDF to build a torsion box type support structure under the table. All the cross members will use half lap joints where they cross.

I’ve seen some cabinets with holes in the door to allow air to flow across the bottom removing sawdust. I’m only using a 4 inch duct, so I am not sure that the three half inch holes on the front of the door will hinder dust control or not. I’ll have to plug them if they don’t work.
