So I got a little overzealous with the wipe-on poly the first time around. I ended up having to sand back down to bare wood and reapply, which is why this Mother’s Day gift for my future mother-in-law is four days late.
Just some GORGEOUS figured walnut and cherry with six or seven coats of wipe-on poly The picture size is 8×10, which is the size of the mat we have in there with a 5×7 photo. I used splines on this and the only other frame I’ve built, and probably always will because I think they’re dead sexy.
This was another fun build with quite I few lessons learned along the way. I’ve already got another frame request under way, so I’ll throw that up here when I’m done also.
Any questions, comments or constructive criticism is always welcome. I know I have a ton to learn still, so if you can throw some tidbits of wisdom my way, I’ll take it!
Thanks for looking.

That’s a great looking project. The darker walnut has some beautiful grain pattern and pairs up will with the lighter cherry.
