This was my first real woodworking project.

My sister asked me to make a rocking horse for my niece’s first birthday. I spent a few nights a week working on it for a month, and got it done just in time.

The wood I used is just your typical S4S 3/4” x 12” red oak like you find at the big box home retail centers. I finished it with a couple of coats of Watco Danish Oil.

It was a very educational process, and I look forward to learning more. You can see photos of the entire process at my Flickr photo set for the project, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonnorman/sets/72157623362217281/

Great Looking Horse!!

I really like the mane and tail. Also, the way you made the rockers will prevent them from breaking under heavy use.

Nice work, I really like the design, it is different from all the other rocking horses I have seen, and that is a good thing.
