CO2 cars are usually made from balsa wood and are all about going fast. They hold those 3” CO2 cartridges that can be punctured with a pin and they shoot off. Used to demonstrate many mechanical and physics based principles like friction, aerodynamics and such. Part of many engineering programs around the country/world. They use starter boxes and laser systems to time the races, etc.

looks like this one will really run. As a former Tech Ed teacher I can tell you kids love this activity and learn several different lessons while having fun. Makes me want to get out my scroll saw and crank one out 8)

Actually the CO2 cars are built of Basswood. I dont know if all of them are, but I think that Balsa would be to weak.
The car looks great. Make sure you post a final photo winning the race! When I made mine in Jr High we made the newspaper (and my car was in the lead) make sure you put graphite in the axles.
