Camphor
4-3/4” Tall
Shine Juice
Shellac
Photographed on a cloudy day, outside, with flash.

I began this piece intending to make a Snifter. A Snifter, of course, is distinguished by its having a fat butt, a narrow mouth, and a short stem. I don’t know what happened. A narrow mouth and short stem it has. But, the butt’s not fat enough. The butt’s more Goblet-like. But, I guess it’s more Snifter than Goblet. I present “Snoblet.” Two-thirds is more, innit?

It’s pretty wood, this Camphor. It came from my back yard. I haven’t much of it left. I do hope I can do it justice before I run out of it. It smells like Ben-Gay. Until it doesn’t. Then, it smells like Shellac.

Upon re-reading (proof-reading, that is – yeah I do that), I do know what happened. To make a fat enough butt to pass as a Snifter, would have made the mouth much to narrow for myownstupendouslyineptself to hog it out and finish the inside. As it is, the inside finish is (What’s the term, John?) phoned in.

I need a nap.

Ben-gay indeed…how about it smells like Camphor.

Next you will be telling us Cedar smells like lead pencils

Apart from that the “Snoblet” looks to be some very fine work Mark!
Your framing of the subject for the pictures looks well done too!!

Did I ever tell you the joke about the dog with a hair lip?
If I didn’t I will tell you after your snooze.

Cool man,
Gotta love that wood.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Mark, I like this goblet. It’s a nice piece and the knot jumps right out at you. Interesting.

Snoblet sounds like the next generation of Kardashians – but I guess it is better than Gofter. LOL

Whatever you call it, it is another fine turning. Keep up the great work.
