Nice looking project. Recently the wind blew over a large hackberry tree on my property that had to be cut up, while working on the tree I was thinking about turning something out of the wood. I never tried turning anything from this wood. I have always heard that hackberry wood is not good for anything. I still have the main trunk about 10’ long 20” diameter and may have to try some green wood bowls. Nothing ventured nothing lost. You have inspired me to try some hackberry.

This turned out nicely.

Very nice. Hackberry is probably the most common tree in my area. I heard Roy Underhill mention Hackberry is really good for steam bending on one of his shows. No personal experience just something I heard on t.v.

I really like the shape. I tried to turn some hackberry a while back but after it dried it was next to impossible, though I had just started learning to turn so I was probably working with dull tools and bad technique.
