So been working on these off and on for a little over a year, started rough milling and then stickering the wood for a couple months to see how this wood was going to move on me. Then started to pick out what boards went where so the grain would be somewhat symmetrical. I resawed and bookmatched the panels for the base cabinets then the sanding began. Not much use for the planers on this project due to a lot of tearout, Dry fit everything then labeled and disassembled for final sanding. Did the glue up, more sanding and finished all interior parts, then did the final assembly and finishing. The bases have magnetic latches and several hidden compartments and the tops have rotating gun racks and a little veneer work. The finish is 4 coats of lacquer rubbed out to a semigloss sheen and then topped off with satin finishing wax Thanks to the client for allowing me to take my time on this project and only constraining me to the dimensions. Thanks for looking. Jeff

between the quarter sawn, book match panels and the curly – who really cares that it’s a gun cabinet. It could be a bird cage and still be a beautiful piece of furniture.

where’s the applauding emoji when you need it ?

Both cabinets were made for one client, a high end gun collector with some very nice firearms. They sit in opposite corners of his gun room

Nicely done, love the client allowed you the time to properly season the wood after cutting. A real craftsman.
