I’m not much on building cabinetry but I let a friend talk me into building this for her. Still another piece to be built across the top on the side with the ladder. It will be a wedge piece to fill up to a cathedral ceiling. All built in 3/4” oak ply and edge taped, 1/4” oak ply back, with solid oak fluted face frame and oak Cotterman ladder.
Ladder wasn’t built by me just refinished to match. Ladder and hardware came from a great guy that knows his library ladders and is very reasonable on price and shipping if anyone is looking for one. “artslumo” on eBay *updated with top sections in place, client decided to wrap the rest of the room before I even got the tools put up…more to come I guess

Beautiful, how did you end up finishing that oak?

It is a custom mixed stain that was then blended with some extra black till the client was happy. Truely custom.. if I had to compare it’s a blacker Jacobean color. Poly over that.

A beautiful library. Nice work!
