Burl Clock

I forgot to post this one after I posted the blog on the jig to surface & rebate burls.
See, ‘Router Levelling & Cutting Jig-01#’
http://lumberjocks.com/projects/311506
Because the burl was dry and brittle I made that jig to plane both sides

The Clock face was burnt in with my new CNC laser burner.

The Clock face could have been a bit bigger but that’s a matter of practise.
Finished with 2 part epoxy & wipe on poly.

WOW, that is really cool, Tony. How long did it take to learn how to use that laser? I have been looking a them and they are getting real affordable and your’s does beautiful work. I don’t know if this old dog could learn it!!

You can burn a logo into each piece now!!

Cheers, Jim

That’s a beautiful clock Tony. Burning the clock face is interesting and you make it look easy. That must of been you cutting that big burl off that tree. LOL.

Jim, There is a bit of learning & experimenting. If you are OK on a PC manipulating photo you will be fine with it.
One of the main issues is adjusting the laser settings to suit what you are doing.
My wife is into card making so it is useful for that as well.
There are plenty of these machines on Ebay.
If you need any more info let me know

This is a beautiful project made from a beautiful piece of wood. You have done a very nice job on it.
