This is the 2nd building advertising sign that I have repainted in our small town of 3,800 people. I posted the 1st project on this website here.

Some of the words were known as far as content, but were not visible enough to tape and paint. I used 3/16” thick plywood, or Luan, to make wood letter patterns. I took the patterns up using the man-lift, then held the pattern against the brick wall, then traced the outline….....so I could then tape and paint the letters.

Everyone loves to see the old building advertising restored. It really adds some brightness to this city block.

You can read about all my Trials & Tribulations at my woodworking web site here.

Thanks

No, the pay is no good :) I volunteer all the labor. The rest of my summer is booked with designing and upgrading our oldest city park.

Dale, you may not be getting paid for your hard work, but you sure should get the Key to the City

Thanks!

I do get a lot of people who thank me in person, or Facebook, emails, and in a few cases hand-written thank you notes sent via US mail.

This is a wonderful old building and I love the way that you are restoring that old historical sign. I’m sure that you must get a lot of satisfaction from doing this sort of thing. Congratulations.

Thanks!

I do get satisfaction from “making history come alive” for the local residents and visitors to our small town.

It may get some more young people interested in the town’s history, and their own family history as well.

Thanks

I personally think you are a GREAT MAN ….seems to me no one seems to care anymore about all these nostalgic scenes ….I find it very nice that there is someone who cares enough to put forth great effort ….KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK Dale :<))
