62”H x 16.5”W x 4.5”D. Western red cedar, turned and textured, Baker Beach sea glass with St. Armands Key worn beach shells, ferrous oxide, on driftwood with steel, brass, copper, verdigris and granite.

This is the second piece in my Totemic series. The helix is the spiral form commonly found in nature…look at seashells and snails, ferns unfolding, hurricanes and tornadoes, eddies behind your canoe paddle…the list is almost endless. As with all of my pieces, one or more of my lathes are used somewhere in the process of creating the piece.

C&C’s always welcome!

Hi DaN, glad you like it! What is AAS in MDT? I have an AAS in Respiritory Therapy…not that I use it anymore.

Don’t know what it is, but it sure looks cool. Nice work

Well, basically it’s a tall sculpture. I forgot to mention that both of the totems I’ve made so far are kinetic, meaning that they have a bit of movement to them in a breeze. I wouldn’t recommend either of them for an outdoor environment, I think they’re both too fragile for that.

Thanks for commenting!

Thanks Kent!
I’m hoping the judges for the juried abstract exhibition that I just submitted this and Beachcomber’s Totem to like it as well. The show is next month in Palm Coast, Fl. www.hollingsworthgallery.com
