52 traditional mortise and tenon joints, join the cherry / oak base, while the top is edge joined, and planed smooth, 8/4 (milled down to 1 1/4 inches) Figured Maple

FINISH
A traditional clear shellac and wipe on varnish finishes the piece

Very nice. Who will be using the desk? Did you do all mortise and tenon joints with hand tools?

Thank You! The mortises were cut with a compact plunge router, and the tenons with this really cool “Horizontal Router Table” I built for just that purpose. The final fit, however, was pure hand tools (shoulder plane, chisel, file).

This desk is for a professional couple (he’s a doc, she’s a therapist) who do lots of work from home.
