Recently, it was my privilege to spend two days with Alan Lacer … though many people think of Alan as only a master of the skew (he is!), he is also an accomplished box turner.

This box is inspired by Alan’s designs, and is 4” tall and 3-1/4” in diameter. It is cherry with polyurethane finish.

I used a ‘Wagner Tool’ ... it has a knurled wheel that cuts the design … then used a point tool to cut a border on each side of the texturing.

I like the box Gerry! Functional with a nice shape. The lines and texturing add interest but the beauty of the Cherry wood remains the main feature. I think that’s what I hope for in my turnings.

Gerry, this is a beautiful box and so nicely done. I love the wood and other nice details.
