Hello everyone,

I haven’t been on Lumberjocks for a bit. I had a shop fire last July. Pretty crazy thing to go through. I lost all of the carvings that I had, all of my tools and an amazing collection of figured woods plus a lot of other things. We moved a little shed onto our property and I started carving last fall.
We started the procedure to build a new shop last August. Building started this January. We had a lot of rainy, windy weather that slowed the project considerably but we are making progress!
And then the shed caught fire about a month ago. I have replaced my tools again and gotten more wood. Carving in a friends garage until the new shop is completed.
Will post pictures of new carvings soon!

You all are great!!

Wiz

Gary, that is so disheartening. Sorry that it has occurred and sorrier that it has happened not once but twice.

Wish you well. Will keep you in my prayers.

Really sorry to hear such news, and I hope to see you back to 100% soon. Terrible to hear of any of your beautiful carvings being burned. Best wishes for your next rebuild.

Two fires? I can’t imagine. I wish you the best though.

That sucks. Anything you can share as to the cause, so others like myself might be able to better prepare to protect the shop?
Hope you’re back to carving soon.

I was wondering the other day about your absence.
Man, what a disaster, two fires and all your goodies.
They say everything happens for a reason, I have to wonder why but maybe there is a silver lining there somewhere.
All the best Buddy.

Do you know why the fires started? this isn’t voyeurism, it’s seeing if we can avoid whatever it it was

Two fires! I feel for ya.
Just a suggestion, but maybe a fire suppression system is order for that beautiful new shop.
