Office Remodel

Good afternoon. It has been a while since I have posted any projects so I thought I would take a minute to share my recent home office remodel.

The countertop, floating shelves, face frames and door and drawer rails and stiles are all made from red oak. The door panels and drawer inserts are made from some left over hard maple from my barn door project. All the red oak was stained with Minwax red oak stain. Doors and drawers were all assembled after staining and spray finished with several (seven or eight, maybe?) coats of Arm-R-Seal satin.

The countertop was probably the biggest challenge. After gluing up two 24”x72” panels, I had to draw out the 45* line on each and use a straightedge and circular saw to make the cuts. I used the Time-Joint fasteners on the underside and, ultimately, they worked like a champ.

The upper cabinet on the right ended up as a home for all of the various components to the wireless network that always end up being an eyesore. One of my main objectives with this project was to get all the wiring hidden. I am pretty happy with the results on this point. I used about a dozen cable management grommets and was able to conceal them pretty well. The LED lighting under the floating shelves was also an objective as the lighting in the office is not all that great.

Thank you for looking!

Chuck

That’s a really outstanding office up grade. Everything about it is top drawer. Pun intended!

Really, really nice. I like the incorporation of the lighting with the floating shelves.

The first thing I spotted was the IMAC – way to go

Oh, this is about the cabinets. ” I was pretty happy with the results ” is a bit modest, you should be exstatic with the results. The project was obviously well thought out and executed with the craftsmanship deserving of such an outstanding visual effect.

Can you tell I like it ?

Great looking office.

Let’s go Blues, wish they could have played better against Nashville
