Intrigued by this Paul Sellers’ post, I used one of the recently honed Narex chisels to give the spiral shaving a try. Pic taken with my cell phone and not with a DLSR camera which would have produced a much sharper image.

I sharpened the 1” chisel with waterstones: 1000/4000, 8000 & strop.

You would want to cut with the grain to produce a spiral shaving.

I saw Paul’s post on Facebook and immediately thought of it when I saw your post.
So I guess it is a wonder of nature’s laws and not a particular trick of his that produces the Fibonacci curl.
Well done and very well sharpened.

There’s very little as satisfying as using a sharp chisel or plane iron. That’s a fantastic curl. I too saw Paul Sellers Fibonacci curl video. It is mesmerizing and very enjoyable to watch.
