I want to give special thanks to Kiefer for his original design https://youtu.be/YjADbCEZhvA and to Woodshaver Click for details for his remake and bringing it to my attention.

All materials used, I already had laying around the shop and property no out of pocket expense.

I ran out of 5/8” washers so I improvised by making the remaining washers out of wood stock. I didn’t see a need in making the clamping spades for tightening the straps via squeeze clamp as I just used the ratchet.

I optioned for PVC as did Tony (Woodshaver) instead of copper Pipe shown in Klaus’s (Kiefer) original design. I also took it one step further by making another set of 2” x 4” as some of my boxes can reach up to between 6 and 9”.

I used solid glue up scrap cutout blocks of Alder that I had laying around for my 2” high design, I cut the channels out on my bandsaw and laid in painters tape to give the straps a smooth surface to slid on from the bandsaw blade marks, I then drilled 3/16” holes at both ends of the corners and placed 3/16” brass dowel rods to keep the straps from binding on the corners. Still I have to give credit to Klaus as I wouldn’t have come up with my remake without his sharing.

The caddie was something I put together real quick, it’s made out of western cedar.

Thanks for the mention Randy! And again a big thanks to Klaus for this great idea!

I was thinking of using the ratchet also but I was curious to see how the squeeze clamp would work. I guess either way would work ok. My strap was only 1” wide and Klaus had a 1 1/2” strap in his designe so I found some strapping on eBay and changed out for this one LINK
I like your lower 2” high design also for smaller boxes! Good idea Randy and nice work on this project!

Congratulations, Randy. These clamps look great and you did a fine job on this rendition of the original design.

Well done Randy !
Thanks for the mention I appreciate it !
The clamp I designed for this jig does work more smoothly then the strap I found and I think the reason is that with the strap you are pulling in one direction where as the my clamp pulls from both directions .
You could also add a third clamping element and steel dowels like a used on a previous version and be able to clamp taller boxes .
That low clamp could also be good for clamping picture frames .

That’s true. Just not making fine woodworking projects. Not even the jigs for them. LOL! Built my lawn tractor/wood shed and finished up doors I made from scratch as the ones I’d saved were too big and the rails and styles too narrow.

Just did two psych reports which were requested by clients. Took some time for testing and then making sense in the diagnosis of what I found. Use to find it stimulating , now I’m doing it because I was asked. I also have too many things falling apart including me. LOL!
