Saw the Shaker Step in PW last month and thought I could try it. Used Poplar and painted to match other stands my Wife has for plants-not sure if she will use it as a step or a stand at this point but she’s happy with it so I can get some more time to work on more projects!

Looks good, as long as she likes it who cares what she uses it for…haha. Don’t you just love pocket holes?

Nice piece – I’ve made a few of these for my wife to put plants on. I went to HD and bought some cedar fence boards to make mine, can’t beat the price and they seem to hold up good outdoors with out paint.

if plants are going on it you can always build a second one for stepping on.

Did you use the pocket screw panel technique from PW?

Yes, I used the pocket screws, but I have to confess, screwed up on the side you don’t see did my layout with the pockets on the out side instead of the inside. Nothing that a little wood filler wouldn’t fix. Boy am I learning not just measure twice and cut once, but the same can be said of layout!

That’s why we have to learn to be good photographers too ;^D

Nice project – I’m sure your wife will love it.
