Project Information
The handle for the box is a stick I found while my wife and I were on vacation on Washington State's coast. The top is curly cherry that I was given by a woodworker friend who moved to a different state. The box sides are maple.
I began this project by determining a desired approximate size. I then used the golden rectangle equation to achieve my final dimension. The lifts for the handle were cut from walnut scrap. I then drilled through them for mounting to the box top. I filed the top of the lifts to get a decent fit to the stick which was then epoxied in place. The finish is Minwax Wipe On Poly. The stick was left unfinished.
